Mysti's Run 06-25-2010
Warm Up: Elliptical 5 minutes
Workout: Running 1.5 minutes and Walking 1 minute for 15 minutes.
Distance: 1 mile
I am working really hard NOT to get shin splints and/or have foot pain due to my crazy high arches. (In the past, I have had lots of difficulties with both) Solution: new shoes, lots of stretching, warming up on elliptical and icing down my shins and arches after working out. So far so Good !!
I finally got in my car tonight and measured the distance around my neighborhood...Right at 1 mile !! My speedometer rolled over to 1.1 miles when I pulled back into my garage. I am so excited, because it will make measuring distance very easy.
Like Michelle, I am going on vacation this coming week and I too plan to take the running shoes.

I really thought I was going faster today, oh well. We leave for vacation tomorrow, but I am determined to get my workouts in anyways. My run Sunday will have to outside on the streets of Charleston. I just hope it's not too hot. Tuesday and Wednesday I am can run in our hotel workout room. I know that my eating habits will go down the tubes..so I'm sure my running will be effected by that! Today I'm going to buy a watch, nothing fancy just something to keep the time. So Wal-Mart it is!

Mysti's Beginning....
On July 19th, Michelle emailed me asking if I wanted to train for a 10K. My initial thought was she is crazy; however, I took a few days to think it over.
Thought Process:
Before meeting my wonderful husband of a little over a year, I was running two miles every other day and I have never let him live that down! (Even though it was not his fault I stopped running)
AND
I have been making more and more comments about wanting to start running again over the last few months, but I have never taken the first step.
Therefore, I committed to train with Michelle !!
I will be starting out training for a 5K; since, I have not ran in over a year and I am crazy OUT of shape.
Here We Go!!
Progress this week:
June 22: Purchased new running shoes and Walked 45 minutes.
June 23: Rotated running a minute and walking a minute for 15 minutes.
June 24: Day Off

Time: 30 minutes
Distance: 2.51
Pace: 11:57
I can't believe I ran for 30 minutes without dying. It was challenging the last 10 minutes, but the first 20 are getting fairly easy! The whole last 10 minutes I just kept thinking, "I don't have to run tomorrow." and "The next time you run it's only for 20 minutes" haha.
After my run my knees hurt a little and I was starving even after dinner. I may need to up the calorie intake on long run days.
So glad that tomorrow is a rest day.
